Earlie, >>Was there anything specific that triggered the sell-off?

There was a air pocket when they opened P&G. Prior to the opening the P&G specialist told CNBC that it was looking down 10 or so...and after it opened down 28 or so there were no buyers for a number of stocks. <ggg>

Earlie,

I just read an email from Yardeni and he was going on about P&G's warning and that the competition is killing them because people are not buying franchise name brands anymore. He referred to Walmart having their own brands as well as other named stores, etc. Well just who in the "H" does he think manufactures these "Walmart" etc. brand names. This guy does not have a clue.

Interesting times.

Joan

Everyone is saying that P&G's earnings warning caused the selloff, but I would say that there was a selloff because all of a sudden a bunch of people happened to decide to sell.

In our local newspaper this morning there was a letter to the editor from a guy who was telling everyone to buy bigh-tech stocks or else they would miss the boat forever. This in the midst of other missives defending Creationism, attacking the Confederate flag, lamenting abortion, celebrating abortion, and making fun of the county commissioners.
