Dr Jacobs touched on that today, saying its a pipe dream, yes SMS is big but thats it.

When I read a post to SI made on a GSM phone, I'll agree with you that Europe is ahead of the U.S. in wireless internet.

I've made a couple of posts to SI using my PDQ Smartphone.

w molloy - the consumer does not make the capital investment decisions regarding the next round of telecommunications stuff to be purchased by the European carriers.

The carriers (who presumably understand fundamental concepts of electrical engineering) ... do.
