Nat, well done for noticing this, I categorically have no doubt that MSFT's spin machine is at work. Here is another point to note. If Palm is able to command a market cap close to $50 billion it will almost be impossible for MSFT or anyone to topple the company. The reasons are manifold but to just mention a few, they will have the necessary wherewithal to fund any project without outside help, they already have a commanding lead in their area and they have critical mass which is lacking from the competition. They are very close to having 50,000 developer writing an impressive array of programs based on their OS and even Symbian's array of alliances is a far cry away from Palm.

Ohhhh... The conspiricy theory. Do you all really think that Microsoft - given it's battle with the DOJ, SUNW, Linux, and Lotus has the time or desire to spin a story? When was the last time that MSFT announced vaporware or spun a story? Do you think that doing so might be looked at negatively by the DOJ and hurt their chances of a settlement? Sheeesh!

For those that care... a couple of interesting articles in the Merc this morning. Article one PALM or COMS - which to buy could have been written by anyone here. Very rudimentary but still interesting to read. Article two is about the price errosion in broadband access - read lower prices for the hardware. As I've said in the past COMS is focusing on the wrong piece of broadband. Modems will take COMS no-where.
