Discussion on issues - How about the differences in the Bush and Mc Cain tax-cut plans. Some of bigger differences are:

Bush proposes 483 billion over 5 years. McCain 237 billion over 5 years.

Top tax rate- B cut from 39.6 to 33; M no change

Other tax rates - B 10, 15 and 25% rates; M expands range of bottom 15% rate from current 0 to 43,500 up to 0 to 70,000.

Estate tax - B eliminates over 8 years; M for estate of 5 million or less, eliminates over 10 years.

My question - In view of a lot of concern about saving social security and reduction of the national debt, which is the better plan? Would Bush be better off to scale his plan back some, such as a smaller cut in the top bracket and in the estate tax areas.

While I personally prefer massive government cost cuts followed by significant tax cuts, it appears that the majority does not share my desire for massive cost cuts and I don't think anyone wants a replay of rising National debt from Reagan type cuts without substantial cuts in the cost of government.
