I think those of us who believe as you do, in limited constitutional government, make a strategic mistake by focusing all our energy on the specific means of financing spending to the determent of fighting the real enemy, the runaway spending itself.

The Reagan tax cuts lit the fuse of our currant vibrant economy. The debt that resulted from the growth in spending during those years had the salubrious effect of preventing that spending from exploding. Do I want a replay of Reaganomics? Hell yes. Quickly growing the economy is the only way baby boomer Social Security is going to be paid for.

I see you are a retired big six CPA firm partner. I respectfully submit to you that it is also a mistake to confuse financing a government with financing a private business. There are natural limits to the damage an out of control company can inflict on the nation. The only limits on government are the Constriction and a vigilant citizenry. I'm not ready to give up the battle yet.

I look forward to your joining the discussion.

While I personally prefer massive government cost cuts followed by significant tax cuts, it appears that the majority does not share my desire for massive cost cuts and I don't think anyone wants a replay of rising National debt from Reagan type cuts without substantial cuts in the cost of government.

I agree that it would be preferable to have a comprehensive plan in place, one that will eliminate programs as well as cut revenue. However, there is one big solution to federal aggrandizement, which is defunding, and it appears that one cannot control spending without arousing anxiety about deficits. Thus, it seems wisest massively to cut taxes up front, in order to press for cuts in expenditures.......
