Mula - Re: "Imagine if X-Box starts shipping on Willamette systems. This would blow away the PS2 and the whole game market segment will be wintel. "

Because Microsoft chose an x86 architecture, the X-BOX can evolve in performance as the x86 architecture evolves.

So, Willamette's "architecture" is a definite possibilty, but I would assume that it would be a "fit" for a second generation X-BOX, and the Willamette "SHRINK" on a 0.13 micron process is available at a low cost.

If the X-BOX is a success, I would suspect that Intel could devote a small cadre of designers to supporting this platform, possibly generating a new "TIMNA" version of Willamette (again on a 0.13 micron process) with integrated memory controllers.
