Paul,
RE: So, Willamette's "architecture" is a definite possibilty, but I would assume that it would be a "fit" for a second generation X-BOX, and the Willamette "SHRINK" on a 0.13 micron process is available at a low cost.

Given intel's history one would think that this is a logical path for intel to take. Interesting thing would be if this device really replaces pc as an entertainment device and takes away some of the things the current PC is used for. We would be witnessing a new paradigm in the internet & gaming world. What would be the real role of the PC in the future then is the question?
Food for thought.

Paul,

I see very little long term future for special purpose embedded processors, like the PS2 emotion engine. High performance x86 processors like Willy will be a much more cost effective solution.

I suspect that X-box performance will increase much more rapidly than Sony can keep up with.
