Software conflict in Handspring 8 MB Flash Memory module leads to "fatal errors"...

handspring.com

Note: If you experience problems (such as Fatal Errors) while viewing the contents of the 8MB Flash Module, it is imperative that you install this software update and then reformat your Flash Module. Complete instructions are contained in the README.txt file included with the update.

Seems like Sony and Handspring could both use some help from SanDisk. I still don't understand why using CompactFlash or MMC of the shelf is not a more common practice.

Franklin Publishing to support Windows CE

This could be a whole new market for CompactFlash. We haven't really chatted much about electronic books, but this is yet another market where CompactFlash could easily flourish...

franklin.com

"Franklin recently began offering its flagship medical reference title, the Physicians Desk Reference© in a downloadable format for Palm OS and Visor products, and expects to adapt several of its other essential reference volumes for non-Franklin platforms during 2000."

(non-Franklin platforms ==> read WinCE ==> read CompactFlash)

I feel proud because I have pestered Franklin about the lack of supported content for Windows CE devices, in particular the PDR!!!
