Such a deprived life I have...there isn't a decent beach anywhere close. My first trip to Hawaii back in 1980 ruined Galveston Island for me(water so brown you can't see your toes at any depth-disgusting).

Last beach I was on...let me think - had to have been St John (breathtaking tranquil). I haven't actually been to Varadero...was married to a Cuban, have other Cuban friends...just know Varaderos reputation...some day I will be there. There are some peaceful beaches in Greece filled with beautiful people with no inhibitions. A great de-stresser.

North Carolina huh? I'm making a note.

JW, do check out Destin, FL, and East of there for THE most beautiful beaches in the world. I have spent many beautiful days and nights there since I was a wee one.
