RE: the Record date for the ALTA IPO...

I have been fortunate enough to get into the DSP twice now and *praying* to get in on this ALTA gig... But -- at the risk of sounding like Rene Madsen (god rest his soul -- where's he been??), I have to say, I really don't get why CMGI announces the record date long after it's passed. It seems to me like they're missing a very legitimate way to boost buying volume from those who want to try the DSP lottery. If you think about other events -- like splits and dividends -- companies announce the Record date in advance of the event so that people can buy in if desired.

OK, so if you buy and hold this doesn't concern you much -- except you want to give as much of an enticement as possible to lure others into the fold as well.

Bottom line: CMGI should give investors a 2-week notice before the record date for a DSP IPO...
