cookies are what? any way? can they not come from a windows98 --to me they are just things you have to click and click to get rid of them:).max

If you consider the possibility that he's not talking about cookies, but rather just any old any error message, it starts to sound as if somewhere along the way, Outlook/IE5 was setup to use MS Word as the default editor. But not having Word installed, an error is generated on the attempt to compose an email. ???

But I'm new to IE & Outlook myself and on a quick look I don't see where that can be changed.

Maybe someone else can assist?
