Scarecrow, I wholeheartedly agree with your points.

1) Investors looking for a quick double, or triple better look for a company with a market cap much lower than this one

2) I can't agree with CMGI longs who complain about the stock movement because this has been so good to me and still goes up every year, just not at its "old pace"

3) On an operating basis, as this company still incurs tremendous losses, and sits on a 40B market cap.

4) The ramp-up that everyone wants I believe is
3-5 years away....when CMGI can realize tremendous synergies across all of its brands, leverage its incredible network, and produce great operating results and HUGE profits.

I think that its moving strong in this direction, but it will take more than a "few quarters"

Just my opinion...

Good post, my rant follows.

Unfortunately too many investors spend too little time learning about what they own. Very little to no research is done beyond what they see on these boards. Boards are nice for fast info flow and some insights but it may not be the best place to do the type of spade work to give you a real feel for a company.

People are asking you if it is well publicized that CMGI is #1 in returns for the last five years? Virtually every newspaper with a financial section, every financial/money magazine and some general purposes ones listed results for the decade and five years and one year. CMGI was up there. CNBC/Wall Street Week/CNN and all sorts of TV programs listed these stats. It has been posted on this thread back in January. You had to try and get away from that kind of information. How investors in CMGI could not know how well this stock has done just makes my jaw drop.

I'm being to think that there is a class of investor that actively works to know not just as little about CMGI as possible, but creates dysinformation in the process. People either don't look at or can not read charts. They have no concept of the unprecedented returns that CMGI has returned to shareholders. They don't even bother to visit the CMGI homepage to find answers to the most basic questions. Unfortunately, many would not even be able to guess the URL <ggg>.

The whining...it sounds like a bunch of spoiled 2-year olds screaming for Ice cream at times on this board. Hopefully, the spoiled brats among us will just sell their shares and go away. But they will come back in a year and we will have to listen to their incesantly shrill cries of why did I sell.
