Tom's Giga Battle

Tom continues to ridicule intc for their phantom launches, but he does give the performance crown to the PIII (except for FP intensive scientific apps.) Good Read.

Steve Re...<<<<We are soon looking at voicemail over the internet in addition to an explosion in web sites with 3D images. So many people bought PCs for the first time in 1996-97 to log onto to the internet for the first time. >>>>>>

Steve I agree but there are 2 areas I feel you left out. One is the high growth factor of the Asian, pacific rim countries who wouldn't have the infrastructure for wireless messaging etc.; and will have to rely heavily on the PC. Secondly, there has been an explosion in the stock market, which I feel is partially from people from all over the world trying to get in on the action. Now one can gamble just as in Las Vegas; all day long, all over the world; by hooking up to the internet. The stock trading program I have requires horsepower up the yazoo, in fact I have a 650 mhz an thats pokey; so this greed phenominum will drive sales of high powered machines.
