BTW and FWIW, I now have the Resource Meter in my Startup folder and since I have been watching and reacting to it, I have significantly reduced the number of "crashes" I experience.

My yellow caution level occurs at 33% User free. I may be able to open applications at that level, but I am unable to count on a program like Quicken to operate reliably. Sometimes it will and sometimes not. It may only require the closing of a browser window to push the meter back to green, so I can proceed.

Just one man's experience.
