MM, Even if BlackIce is behind the curve, it will be superior to my existing defensive methods...which are to have File System:bytes read and Disk Cache: cache hits displayed in System Monitor on my second monitor. If I am not engaging the system and spikes appear on those graphs, I turn off the DSL modem and turn it back on, (a 10 second initialization). My ISP purportedly uses dynamic IP addresses, so I suddenly have moved as far as probes are concerned. I realize that could already be too late...hence my desire for BlackIce... The more I learn, the more I realize I don't know... JCC
