I still feel that the reason CYMI hasn't performed as well as the other semi equips is that they weren't around during the last cycle to prove themselves.

Although I agree with whomever said they dislike conspiracy theories, I am giving a little thought to Curly's theory being correct re MSDW. Deanna's downgrade really hurt.

I don't think that the fundamentals have changed one whit, and I still think CYMI will easily exceed $3 next year. As we get closer to earnings, I expect us to take out the old highs. That said, if the larger semi equips keep going down (they had such a big run, it is not unreasonable to expect), we will go with them. However, we are now so low our relative strength should be good. I actually thought we were going to hold 55. It wasn't until the Nasdaq selling accelerated late in the day that the bids disappeared driving us down.

[edit] Maybe Oracle will stop the bleeding in its tracks.

Actually, although I didn't own CYMI at the time, I believe there was a lawsuit (which may still be pending) several years ago regarding the optimistic outlook projected by management while at the same time they were disposing of shares which subsequently went way below their sale price (for reasons which were beyond management's control).

Yes, the suit is still pending as far as I've heard. Back at the conference call before last, someone asked, and the reply was that the suit was dead in the water because they were try to consolidate the number of plaintiffs. The arguments of the 'offenses' the company committed is a classic 'post hoc ergo propter hoc', and if this attempted legal extortion ever sees a courtroom, the company will prevail. The same pack of jackals descended on a number of tech companies whose share prices plummeted at the same time as Cymer's. The Bill Lerach's of the world just added a bunch of vulnerable companies - including Cymer - to their hit list in hopes of obtaining a 'please go away' type settlement. Since not a single analyst bothered to ask about it in the most recent conference call, I doubt that it's a factor in the present swoon.
