One of these days (months, years). << the spec is far from complete >> My take is that it is complete enough for vendors to work from it. Work on Release 2000 has begun. There is an interesting document on the ETSI site (ETSI TR 101 458 V1.0.4 (dated 2000-02) called "Universal Mobile Telecommunications Services (UMTS): Future direction of standards work on UMTS/IMT?2000" detailing how the standard will evolve over time (lots of time <g>). I'd be glad to e-mail it if your interested and can't readily find it. - Eric -
