Growth versus value? Why not find a combination of the two?
Growth/Value stocks have held up well these past few days though some have dipped offering "safe" entry points. I see little risk in stocks like IBM, UIS, CPQ, WCOM, JNJ, MRK, LU at these levels. Also cable stocks way down and select retailers on dips. Beaten-down former high-fliers are also a pretty safe bet like ESHR, CORL, ATHM, etc. In a market like this you have to buy already beaten-down value/growth stocks on dips then be ready to sell on any nice pops. Not the type of market we like but survival depends on staying smart and aggressive even during numbing sell-offs.
