Brian, I am not sure if it is a disappointment (to me the stock was quite good, despite taking a minor trading loss few weeks back), we may have a shifting of "interest" area, or, god forbid, the beginning of semi cycle topping?

Brian, I understand your pain. I had a position in SFAM a while back and decided to liquidate in favor of CYMI. While SFAM has doubled since then and CYMI has tripled, I still feel CYMI is under valued on a relative basis. CYMI's competition is shadowy and Cymer has a advantages in manufacturing, service, up-time, etc. SFAM as you mentioned competes head to head with AMAT

In a more general sense, can AMAT grow faster than demand for equipment in the overall market? Yes, but they would have to steal market share from other players. CYMI has an opportunity to grow faster because they operate in a segment that is transitioning rapidly and offers greater rewards to (semi) manufacturers in terms of reducing costs and increasing performance of their products.

You'd think that Rodney Dangerfield had died and was reincarnated in the form of this company.
