Re: "I would like to point out that Sun's
ONLY competitors in the server market continue to be HP &
IBM."

I'm sure you would like to point that out but it isn't true. I have seen many many Compaq servers in financial institutions (my company installed a good deal of them) doing what Sun servers were doing just a couple of years ago. They are running Windows NT and doing a great job.

In fact I have been privy to witnessing some fairly substantial outages at certain brokerages recently and I can tell you that there are some unhappy Sun customers out there.

Cheryl, what is your occupation/specialisation? I am intrigued because I can't understand where your views come from. I know I have asked this before but you don't seem to want to answer. It really would help to judge the credibility that your posts can be given (cos the accuracy of their content doesn't help much).

Dear Cheryl: If I may add to your post I would say the following also: SUNW is known as a STANDARD in its market. EVEN if another company comes along with something better which frankly I doubt will happen consistently (ie someone may temporarily have the upper hand but then SUNW will come out with their upgrade) it is VERY DIFFICULT to dislodge a market Standard.
