Kash <<Intel SSE will get lotsa support and 3d now will die off.>>

Too pessimistic. MSFT cannot let 3DNOW die that is about to have 30% PC market in 2h of 2001.

Kash,

as far as X-box, the more i think about it - the more significant this loss for AMD is. IMHO this will ensure that Intel SSE will get lotsa support and 3d now will die off.

I'm convinced that if AMD doesn't switch to SSE by early next year, they will make a swift exit from the desktop CPU business.

Kash,

Secrecy when you are behind is OK. But when you are trying to be a leader - its tough to lead by being secretive.

AMD is far behind financially. Intel had the cash to buy off Microsoft, and the advance publicity of X-box gave them the opportunity to do it.
