Gamers don't write for 3DNow they write for DirectX or OpenGL.. If the video card maker has 3DNow! support amd.com in it's OpenGL drivers and Direct X 6.0 www1.amd.com or higher already supports 3DNow! I don't see how your comments are relative..

A fundamental shift is occurring in the video game world. The geometry and lighting calculations are now being done on the graphics processor, and the physics is becoming much more complex, requiring SIMD on the processor. This will require direct SIMD usage by the game developers.
