It does seem like a strange synchronicity for the Iridium satellites to be facing decommissioning at about the same time that Taiwan is voting on its next President, with the potential of started war with China, in light of the fact that Motorola was found by the Cox Report to have breached security vis-a-vis satellite technology for Iridium while in China. A really good action-adventure writer could write a convincing scenario connecting the events, I'm sure. Let's see, is Clinton trashing the satellites to appease the Chinese? Or are we threatening to "accidentally" drop them on the Chinese, like we "accidentally" blew up their embassy? Or are we trashing them to keep the Chinese from being able to prove that they are really spy satellites? The mind reels with potential scenarios.
