With the French employment laws ALA will never be able to get the kind of profit margins to be competitive with the CSCOs of the world. Europe in general can't compete until they stop having 35-hour work weeks + 6 weeks paid vacation + 14 or more paid holidays each year. Either that, or the management of US companies suffer mass hysteria and give away the store too. On top of all that, it is next to impossible for a European company to reduce the size of it's work force. Interestingly, I don't oppose any of these practices in theory. It's just that it makes them less able to compete with US companies that get more work from their employees and can move more quickly to control costs.
