Haim,

don't really want to get into a big discussion about Taiwan but I think the best thing that will happen is to have unification. It will help China move towards democracy much faster, rather than having Taiwan dangling as a quasi US puppet in Asia.

But, I don't really care except for what it will do to Market Direction on Monday.

I doubted if there is any agreement between US and China regarding Taiwan. US does not have the leadership nor the type of government capable of making such a deal. Who do you think could have made this secret agreement, Clinton? Albright? You got to be kidding.

China is more dictatorial in the decision making process. Having said that, I doubted if Jiang and Zhu have the power to make some type of a deal. Zhu had already lost face last April, when he came calling in the US with a list of concessions to join the WTO and went home with zippo. They have already used CDMA as a threat or carrot to give the US a signal as to what the consequences may be. Remember how they used to cancel Boeing and order Airbus in previous disputes? Too bad they don't stick with that strategy because I don't own BA but I do own QCOM.

What concerns me is the lack of "discussion". As an example, we are all prepared for months that the Feds may raise interest rates again next week and who knows how many more times this year. It will not be a surprise. On the other hand, if the 7th fleet is heading toward Formosa Straits on Monday, I don't think the market will take it too kindly.

Like I said in my last post, we will find out in a day or two.
