With no graphics frame buffer, the Nvidia chip interfaces to main memory but with data access as high as 6.2 Gbytes/s. Microsoft's decision to use DDR SDRAM gives a boost to the emerging memory interface, and is a blow to proponents of the Direct Rambus DRAM architecture.
