>>Few will deny that the worst judgement call George Bush, Sr. ever made was choosing Dan Quayle.

Actually, many do. GHWB's worse mistake was to cave into the same forces, i.e. the Dems and the Media, that adore McCain's phony campaign reform. When GHWB adopted their massive spending and tax increases he split the GOP and launched Perot. GHWB broke his only promise with the people and was thrown out. Clinton/AlGore and the so-called "Reform Party" are his legacy, the dynamic duo of corruption and a Party with taxpayer money and no reason to exist.

Those same forces insist that GWB must embrace the Dem/McCain phony reform bill. The polls show otherwise - that McCain voters were attracted by his story not his "issues". The "reform" issue has been a deft play to divert attention from the illegal activities of the Clinton/AlGore administration. McCain played the dupe to Media acclaim, helping their real candidate.

>>most laughable thing he ever said was that Quayle was "the best man for the job".

Did he? He made that statement about Clarence Thomas. The statement is stupid and unfair to anyone, no matter how qualified.

I never believed GWB was the best man, just easily better than his father and the rest of this campaign's offerings. Voting is usually a choice between the lesser of two evils, with AlGore the evil among the lessers.
