It really is sad, but pioneering is always full of pitfalls. Keeping up with Iridium has "introduced" me to some fascinating characters, like this dude who is attempting to row across the Pacific in a 29-foot row boat, and was hoping that his Iridium phone would keep him in contact with the rest of the world. Message 13234710 And there was the story of a fisherman in the Pacific Northwest, and some mountain climbers here and there. I guess we'll have to see what Craig McCaw can accomplish with Teledesic, because Globalstar won't be there for the true hinterlands.
