RE Online broker Do NOT use Mydiscountbroker.com. That is the worst place I have ever dealt with. They have nice people working there. They seem to care about what they do. But the system messes up, trades will just show up in your account, things will disappear, splits are not adjusted correctly until you call them and complain, etc. What a mess. Seldom Blue

I've had excellent results at Ameritrade. The execution is prompt, the price of a market order is only $8. The people are friendly at the other end of the line. The display of the option chains is very clear. Their servers nowadays are seldom down. I don't own any Ameritrade shares. It's a very competitive business. Sincerely, Malcolm Bersohn

Re: OBJECTIVE Advice on Brokers I notice that Gomez was recommended as a source of info about on-line brokers. Be aware that they accept advertising and cooperative marketing dollars from the very brokers they evaluate. This has led to some... <ahem>... "interesting" rankings (you should see how they dance around the intense dissatisfaction with Waterhouse, for example). A source of information with a better reputation for objectivity is: astro.lsa.umich.edu (I have no relationship with the people running this site) Good luck in your search. It'll feel like Hercules cleaning the Augean stables (imagine a century of accumulated horses---, generated at Internet speed). P.
