Unless Intel can match Mhz with AMD, a price war will be one sided. What I mean't by "already" is that AMD is may be clearing some inventory for the soon to be released on die L2 chips, AKA Thunderbird and Spitfire.
Intel may soon realize they have you wage war with a lot of pea shooters.
