<< I would love to have one of these analysts explain to me the reason for the enthusiasm surrounding vrta and gspn and the lack of such for awre. Maybe there are good reasons that I just have not uncovered. >>

it's simple. it's the new economy. it's the new investment paradigm. the following is a short synopsis of how this new paradigm works for vrta, gspn, and awre.

VRTA - absolutely no signs of making money in the next two fiscal years, therefore give it an incredibly high market cap of $2.8 billion on $9 million revenue. this is a market cap of 311 times revenue. stock is at 145ish.

GSPN - the beginning signs of becoming profitable, but not quite there yet, therefore it's still ok to give an outrageous market cap of $6.7 billion. but because they are approaching profitability this cap is only 120 times lagging 12 month revenue of $56 million. stock is 132ish.

awre - you guessed it. . . it's profitable and is showing an eps growth rate in the high double or possibly even triple percentage point range. so . . . . let's only give it a market cap of $1.1 billion or 52 times lagging 12 month revenue of $21 million. stock is 49ish.

ahh, the new economy. i love how it has just thrown away the basic tenets of investment and how it seems to defy the laws of economics. however, for some unexplained reason, i have this nagging feeling that someday those basic tenets and fundamental laws will come back into play. i sure hope i am in the right stocks when that happens.
