Interesting article. I'm a bit unsure why the add-on program they discussed would be necessary, though. My Netscape has offered the choice of what cookies to accept for years. I assume that IE does, too.

So far, the Naviscope program has done what it claims it will do. It shuts down most ads, and thereby speeds up page changes considerably. I also like the "speedometer" for bandwidth while surfing. One thing I've noticed is that it only tracks info to the primary browser, not all info going thru the modem. It is a pretty good little program, IMO, especially since it's free.<g>

Revisiting the subject of the DoS attacks that disabled Yahoo, EBay, and E-Trade et al within the last several weeks.

If someone wanted to REALLY bring the whole internet to a halt they would target a major Certificate Authority like VeriSign for a DoS attack. If VeriSign were crippled by a DoS attack, VeriSign would be unable to act as trusted third-party for all their issued digital certificates. This would cause a LOT of problems, essentially disabling SSL secure encryption capabilities for many sites which depend on e-commerce for banking, on-line ordering, etc.

Hey, did you guys hear that VeriSign acquired Network Solutions recently? These are among the biggest names on the internet, that is BIG news!

PS, yesterday I passed my CIW E-Commerce Professional exam! My next exam is CIW Security Professional, which is where I want to go career-wise.
