The source of hydrogen does effect the environment. Put gasoline into the equation, and environmental problems occur no matter what. Sure you strip the hydrogen off and generate electricity and water, but all the carbon goes somewhere too. If its oxidized you produce CO2,...if not fully oxidized, CO or god knows what is generated,...and what of the Sulfur, Nitrogen and other impurities in the gas.

Even natural gas is going to produce some carbon product when it goes through the fuel cell. That will likely pollute in some way.

Production of hydrogen by some renewable electrolytic method will be best. Use of pure hydrogen to fuel the fuel cells is still the best technology when impact on the environment is the main criteria being considered,... and the hydrogen must be generated by a clean source, like electricity generated from windmills, geothermal, tide, solar or other environmentally friendly source. Alternates will be ethanol or methanol produced by growing agricultural crops. That carbon can be considered to be recycled by the plants you take it from.

I agree that it would be possible for the public to misunderstand this. As Vital say's GLE is in a position to support any Fuel source with their converter. I think GLE should be cranking out PR's to explain their advantages and clear up the misunderstanding. However,Suzuki has a large following and most of them should be able to read the release for what it is.-Rampant
