Niceguy and those holding AMD calls. I looked up some Yahoo historical quotes and did a little analysis to see how AMD's stock price has done on the last week of option expiration. The conclusion: sell a week before expiration!

Over the last 15 expirations (Jan'99 thru Mar'00), AMD has declined 9 times and increased 6 times from Friday close to Friday close, despite the fact that over this time period, the stock doubled. The average price change is minus 2.3%.

Over the last 8 expirations (Aug'99, when the bull run began, thru Mar'00), the average price change from Friday close to Friday close of expy week is minus 3.8%, with a decline 7 times and an increase only once. This, despite the fact that the average price change for non-expy weeks is +5.7%.
