I admire both companies, but I think you must think that EMC management is a bunch of clowns to NOT see the competitive threat on the horizon (NAS)

I think that you tend to underestimate management here...

EMC's strenght is SOFTWARE, not hard drives, as in TimeFinder, PowerPath, SRDF et al....

Does NTAP and NAS have comparable software ?

Have you read "The Innovators' Dilemma". If not, I highly recommend it. It provides a very in depth discussion of the kind of decision making that is apparently happening at EMC.

BTW, I fail to see any comparison whatsoever between the EMC situation and CPQ.
