G'day all - hi Ken, thanks for the article. I like the neutral tone of the article, especially on the manufacturing aspect, or the difficulties therein.

Here lies the interesting part. Telecomguy has pointed out [albeit my words] that many of the hot startups are gravitated towards Nortel. Obviously, money is good. Going with the winner is also human nature. However, one thing not mentioned explicitly is Nortel's manufacturing expertise. The outstanding suit against OSI is about Nortel's proprietary process. If memory serves, one article about the raiding of NT and LU engineers has suggested that it is these engineers of knowing how to bent light! Therefore, while the smaller firms may have some fundamental break through, they will likely require manufacturing talents from the likes of NT.
