Hi, Glen, and thanks for stopping by. You share the opinion of many experts, including George Gilder, that Cisco is behind the curve on optical networking. If that be the case, I feel that Cisco has the unique ability to close the gap through acquisitions. They have the cash/stock and a proven system that allows them to integrate acquired companies accretively. More importantly, they have the finest executive team in high tech to direct and focus them, and an incredibly talented and motivated staff to implement their programs. Since Cisco's Gorilla strength is related to their ipr rather than hardware, I believe they have a grip on the sector that will allow them to make a successful transition to the optical network.

Underestimating Cisco based on hardware has cost investors in the networking sector dearly. The Gorilla Game has helped me understand why this will continue to be the case. If you haven't read it yet, I'd highly recommend you do so.
