It makes complete sense, and there is a very good fit. Throughout our lives we grow and gain new "attributes" - information about ourselves - that we want to then exchange with other people. We also want to store "contacts" - friends, co-workers, etc. - and "memberships" - our information which defines the attributes of our relationship with a community. All of this type of information can easily be modeled in a directory ... One important aspect however is the need for "personal directories" ... and I believe that the first company who properly releases this product - for free - will win in the identity management space. From the PC Mag article: "Keeping our passwords on our local hard disk made us feel a bit better than relying on third-party methods for securing the same content on their Internet servers." This is going to be a central theme, IMHO, that will drive the solution to be personal directories ... with options on where/how to back-up information. Sharing will be done through communities ... even through "communities of one". It's going to be interesting to see if Novell realizes what they have with Passlogix ... and if they can capitalize on it ... Scott C. Lemon
