Elwood;

What you say is true. However, what you say is always true and since it is always true that fact alone (cpq still having plenty of time to warn) is not what caused the panic selling. As far as I can determine, a part of the rumor was that cpq would warn Friday after the close. A mere vague rumor that cpq may warn sometime between now and earnings release is a rumor without bite and not likely to have much effect. The timing (friday after close)was critical in causing the sell-off in my opinion, since it created a sense of urgency to act in the minds of investors. And because there was no such warning we are now back to the status quo which includes and always includes the possibility of a warning before earnings release. I will remain mildly optimistic in the hope that earnings will indeed be on target and we will be rewarded. After all, without hope what is the point of continuing to hold cpq?
