Andreas-- <<"we are now back to the status quo..">> Not quite from 32+ to 28++,, but this level is no surprise anyway.. anything could have brought it on and a little mgmt damage control or intervention could have minimized it,,,

Andreas.. I don't know where you got the notion that they might warn Friday and if they didn't everything was gonna be just duckie. Imho, they would never warn on a Friday night again, even though I think they still may warn. To think this episode was a ploy by a short seller or whatever is to stick one's head in the sand. Something is wrong in Houston. As I've said before, I don't know how they can be expected to earn .16 or .12 in a seasonally crappy Q when all they could earn in the previous Q which is traditionally the best Q of the year was .16. Andreas: In the past warnings by COMPAQ have seldom, if ever, happened on the date given in the rumour: they have happened later, when least expected. I exclude the warning given by CFO EM to a single brokerage house early last year when the stock was at $40+. The possibility of a warning was in the air for a month or so. But when put to EM and EP, they appeared to downplay the possibility (even though insiders were selling). After the warning, when asked to explain why they had never given it properly and early, EP said they could not be sure what the figures would be and they were hoping that the last two weeks of the quarter would save them.
