Synergy Receives French Patent for Heavy Oil Upgrading Technology

CALGARY, Alberta, April 6 /PRNewswire/ -- Synergy Technologies Corp.
(OTC Bulletin Board: OILS) announced today it has received a French patent for
the company's proprietary CPJ technology for conversion of heavy oils into
more valuable lighter oils.
The patent, assigned to Synergy subsidiary Carbon Resources Limited,
establishes Synergy's exclusive rights to the CPJ process in France and
protects the filing date for all other countries in which the company is
applying for a CPJ patent.
U.S. and other international patent applications for CPJ are in progress.
A U.S. patent for CPJ could be awarded this year, said the company.
Today's patent award follows the receipt, announced in February, of two
U.S. patents for the company's other leading technology, SynGen, which
converts natural gas into clean burning liquid fuels and assorted industrial
products.
CPJ utilizes a thermal shock to split the long hydrocarbon molecules
comprising heavy oil, forming lighter oils. Based on testing completed last
year at Synergy's facility in Orleans, France, the technology is believed to
offer up to 70 percent savings over all competing heavy to light oil
conversion technologies.

The CPJ pilot plant located at the company's Calgary research facility
will commence testing April 10th, 2000. Once initial tests have been
completed, Synergy will commence demonstrations of the technology to potential
licensees and joint venture partners immediately thereafter.
