Franq. Three big remaining issues are
--1)the US House pasing the trade bill with China--Unions pressuring House Demos in an election year--and should it fail and Gore win, he would tend to knuckle to unions--and if that happened China's premier would be really PO'd--but he would still need to start on China's CDMA
--2)getting that NOK customer
--3)getting thru this Q2(3/31/2000) earnings period.

re: >. I never bought into the "Q is dead money" stuff

It's matter of time frame. If one bought last year, your money has been dead. Now if you are trading it hasn't been dead. If one doesn't think so then they are in denial. It's all silly anyhow, there is more danger being out of QCOM then being in it. I say we will be making new highs right around the oct/nov time frame, so for my shares that I bought last year, that money has been dead, but for the shares that I bought this year, lower then it is today, it's not dead. <g>

All the agreements to date will not have an immediate impact on the bottom line like a NOK deal would. A NOK deal would totally change the picture. So we are still looking out one year or two for the rev. to start coming in. The picture needs further sharping the it has been to date, I thought it would take 3 qr. to do so, I haven't seen anything to change my mine on that.

Unq,

Re. but no short term options which would have lost time premium),

With all due deference, I would say that if you had sold puts, the eroding premium would work to your advantage. IMHO, this is a preferred strategy with stocks of very high VIX, if one's circumstances allow it.

Ericy, Kyocera, China, and Motorola have all fallen into line. Now all we need is NOK to capitulate and the Fat Lady can start singing <gg>.

and AT&T as well.
