LL,

In Quicken, did you go to investments/capital gains/this year(or last year for 1999), then press enter?

Those transactions will show up as a report on your trades which should be good for tax reporting.

Have you tried "Ad Hoc Data Retrieval" or "P&L - Trade Detail Extract"? They may be what you need.

Good luck,
JT

Lizard, your accountant a CPA and experienced with the computer ? Quicken exports beautifully into Excel as a spreadsheet. I believe, you can even download it from Penson in "txt" which will translate into Excel via comma delimited format. Your accountant needs to know how to do that though.

Eric,
I can get all the similar trades in consecutive rows (sort by symbol and date), but can't think of a way to sum the results for just that symbol and date without manual editing, though I'll bet there is a way.

After sorting by symbol, from the main menu, click Data/ Subtotals. From the Subtotal window set the following:
1) At each change in: SYMBOL
2) Use function: SUM
3) Add subtotal to: NET AMOUNT
4) Check: Replace current subtotals
5) Check: Summary below data
Then click OK and this should give you the information you are in search of.

Sincerely,
