This is beyond weird. Could it be due to a lack of socketed motherboards? Is it due to the shortage of these boards that are already needed for higher margin PIIIs?

I can see poor little AMD running into such problems from time to time, due to limited resources and its reliance on an industry that keeps saying "show me your parts first, then we'll go into production with ours", but Intel can control all of this stuff in-house.

Someone should introduce the CPU people at Intel to the chipset and motherboard people - I'm sure they'd have a lot to talk about.

Intel isn't just shooting itself in the foot, it's using an Uzi set on full automatic.
