Paul,
Here are few questions for you.

a) The NOVL appliances were proposed some time ago by Drew Major. Has he done any demos at Brainshare. What type of appliances are we taking about? I had an understanding that the next NOVL appliance to come to market will be a *SecureMe* appliance to manage security issues.

b) What is the projected revenue coming from ICS this Q?

c) If the NOVL-CSCO relationship is going places I would imagine that NOVL engineers must have by now a schema for the CSCO routers to work with NDS. Could you find any information concerning this? How about the corresponding AD schema for CSCO routers..Is it ready?

TIA

Let's Start Serving.....

>>What is interesting here is the Novell approach to selling Just-On. They intend to sell the just-on server as a plug and play appliance. This means that ISPs that want to offer the service to their customers can merely buy a Novell box and plug it into their network.>>

Paul:

Thanks for the update.

Novell's move into the "service" space places them right smack between legacy LAN/network telecom and these emerging pure VoIp/IP Net infrastructure worlds.

Like their full service brokerage breatheren, traditional agent networks in the telecom industry are trapped in a catch 22 - with declining margins in a massive comodity pricing squeeze surrounded by a technology paradigm which will automate away more and more of their existence.

ISPs are caught in the middle of the same price/technology squeeze. They can't "go higher" fast enough to fight back against the cut rate pricing fueled by the Baby Bell/DSL marketing juggernaughts.

The solution or "way out" as I see it is for ISPs to establish themselves as personal Internet appliance farms which support nothing more no less than COMMUNITIES.

ISPs have done a very poor job building, growing and developing COMMUNITY.

The successful telcom agents will be those that migrate up the IP ladder to targeted, customized, expanded services, unified messaging, etc. These people would love to get their hands on a Just-On server for ISP presentations.

The world is fast moving to open, simple plug-and-play partnering.

Peace.

GO!!
