Months ago I emphasized the importance for the CEO to visit Redmond and cut a deal for MSFT to develop the facilitating interface which would make transport much in demand. The CEO couldn't do that because he is hostage to Silicon Valley and Silicon Valley doesn't like Redmond. A CEO has to transcend all bs for the interests of the company. If you were to assert this now to the powers that be, they would say, "Oh, we couldn't do that. That isn't in our business plan".

Why MSFT? Because MSFT is eminently qualified and would love to do the job. That job could lead to other big alliances between these two companies, two companies which both need each other and where a dynamic and unbeatable synergy exists.

If I were CEO, it would be a done deal. Att should be emailing me immediately. Oh, they can't do that, I haven't passed the same scrutiny that Bell Bell underwent, a scrutiny that found him to be qualified. Qualification comes from one place and one place alone: the ability to make it happen. Bell has failed the test. Of course, he isn't in charge of anything. To be in charge you have to take charge and Bell wasn't designed to be able to do that.
