e-New Media to Establish 3D Plant in Asia

[March 29, 2000--HONG KONG] e-New Media Co Ltd, a HK-based Internet and telecommunications company, announced Tuesday that it will exercise its option to form a 50/50 joint venture production facility in Asia with US-based Internet entertainment tools developer Brilliant Digital Entertainment, Inc. (BDE).

BDE is engaged in the development and distribution of interactive content and related e-commerce capabilities for the Internet, broadband, television and other media. The company is focused on two markets: 3D digitally animated content and "live" online and television auction broadcasts.

The exercise of the option to license Brilliant's B3D Studio technology is pursuant to the multi-faceted partnership established earlier this month, which also included a strategic equity investment by e-New Media and the rights to distribute selected Brilliant content to Asian markets.

Brilliant will receive US$2.5 million and an ongoing revenue-based royalty from the joint venture in exchange for a 5-year license to its alpha level B3D tools technology.

"Discussions with potential clients in the region convinced us of the tremendous business potential for this facility," said Anthony Shang, e-New Media's executive vice president of Internet services. "We are currently reviewing the financial and operating benefits of locating it in either Hong Kong, or in Singapore, where we are in talks with the Singapore Government's Economic Development Board."

According to Shang, the initial set-up investment is to be within US$1 million.

"We are looking forward to working closely with e-New Media to build our first external production studio," said Kevin Bermeister, president of Brilliant Digital Entertainment.
"Lower production costs in Asia will help us to remain competitive."

Brilliant's distribution relationships include companies as Time Warner, Entertaindom, Excite@Home, RoadRunner, VH1, British Telecom and T-Online, and premium content which includes Superman (DC Comics), Xena: Warrior Princess (Universal), Ace Ventura (Morgan Creek), and the rock group KISS.

Brilliant1s US Web sites have about one million current users and 10,000 movie-downloads daily.
