Charles: The deep differences that could not be resolved must have been changes that NSFT would not agree to due to their perception that it would change the monopoly hold it has on the industry. These changes could include an opening of WINDOWS code, break up of the company (which could be ultimately a good thing for Bill); concession of MSFT flavor of JAVA to be changed to SUNW JAVA (the original), etc.

All I can say is that the "fur will fly" after the release by the judge on Friday (IMI Friday is the day they would release to have orderly markets to let an intervening weekend be there to mollify investors). IMO Monday will be a great day to go long SUNW and short MSFT. I would like to hear the spin on this "blockbuster announcement"!
