Another decides to throw in the towel. I don't know how many follow this guy, but it may be an indicator of additional selling on the opening Monday:

<Another explanation may be investors trying to reduce risk...Given concerns about increased competition and a reduced rate of sales growth, people may be moving to the sidelines or shifting money to companies perceived as safer and more sure bets.>

Given the way the newest IPO in the sector performed on Friday, I think many ex-investors/momentum players in FFIV are chasing the next hot stock.

<Many may not be willing to take a chance on a young company that has announced the rate of sales growth will be slowing and that competition will be increasing. Fear pours into the unknown and when the market is skittish can tend to flood it.>

I don't think anyone expected sales growth to continue at a 600%-700% clip. Competition, to be sure, is a fact of life in the market place. But FFIV has been greatly increasing its customer base over the last quarter.

Your analysis is plausible but leads to my second possible explanation of the dramatic decline in the share price over the last 3 weeks.

Earnings are coming out on the 25th of April, after the close. I think we may find out then whether this sell off was momentum driven or based on fundamental deterioration in the company's business outlook, including sales and earnings growth. Actually, it may take a few more quarters to fully understand what took place here. One thing is for sure: the momentum players are not waiting to find out.

Does anyone has knowledge on FFIV's revenue recognition policy? Is there any potential trouble like Microstrategy? Some software cos. tend to be too aggressive on service revenue recognition. The SEC is getting tough on this.
