Yes but we shouldn't be looking at population growth - just growth in physical demand.

Isn't the more relevant figure the increase in higher-income population worldwide? Although total pop has increased, the pool of people with income sufficient to buy gold has increased, perhaps at a different rate, and it's that number we should be considering, not total population growth.

Thanks Bob,

I believe Africa is probably loosing substantial population due to AIDS at this point. However, given your figures one might ask why is there a supply demand deficit at all.
